\u2014 a painful medical procedure done without explanation. It left him traumatized. For months, every time he felt sick, he tried to hide it. He kept telling us he didn\u2019t need to see a doctor.<\/p><p>But sometimes, you don\u2019t have a choice.<\/p><p>One day, we had to take him to the hospital. He was crying. He wanted to run away. She walked with us to the appointment room. She let the nurse know about the situation.\n\nIn that large, bustling hospital, the nurse stopped everything. She focused entirely on my son. She explained every step, every tool. She promised that no one would touch him without first telling him. And she kept her word.\n\nWe had several more appointments \u2014 for imaging, bloodwork, physiotherapy. Every time, all we had to say was: \u2018Our son had a bad experience. He\u2019s scared.\u2019\n\nAnd every time, the change was immediate.\n\nGetting down to his level. Speaking directly to him. Explaining before acting.\n\nMost importantly: they were honest.\n\nI remember one nurse telling him: \u2018This will hurt a little. It won\u2019t last more than 12 seconds. We\u2019ll count together.\u2019\n\nStep by step, visit after visit, they earned his trust.\n\nThey didn\u2019t just care for his illness. They cared for him.\n\nTo me, that\u2019s what human care is all about.\n\nSo thank you to all the healthcare teams. Because today, my son is nine. He\u2019s healthy.
