Giving our youth memorable experiences

Sports: More Than Just Physical Activity

For young people, sports are a space for discovery, discipline, and personal growth.

In a context where social and economic challenges can limit opportunities, sports contribute to both physical and mental well-being while creating unique chances for social integration and cohesion.

Programs like Bien dans mes baskets, focused on inclusion and academic perseverance through sports, play a crucial role for youth at risk of dropping out or delinquency.

These initiatives teach them to set goals, work as a team, and embrace positive values that will influence their life journey.

Moreover, these programs strengthen community ties and offer young people a space to develop a positive identity and a sense of belonging.

A Memorable Evening for

Thanks to the generosity of the Hewitt Family, three young participants from the Bien dans mes baskets project at the Gédéon-Ouimet Center had the opportunity to experience an extraordinary evening at the Bell Centre.

Surrounded by the vibrant energy and enthusiasm of the fans, this unique moment lit up our young people’s faces and left a lasting impression on their hearts with an experience they won’t soon forget.

Here are some of the young participants’ reactions:

“What an evening!”

“What an experience!”

“I really loved the atmosphere, the cheering—it’s truly an incredible opportunity, an honor to be here!”

“A million thanks to the people who made it possible for us to be here!”

Sébastien Pavia, their youth worker, also shared his thoughts:

“This evening offered these young people a ‘close-up’ experience of an essential part of the cultural identity of their host community. As a social worker, events like this are a unique way to strengthen my therapeutic bond with these students. Witnessing their wonder, their expressions, hearing their reactions, their gratitude… It’s an extraordinary privilege.”

Thank you to the Hewitt Family for making this unforgettable moment possible. Your immense generosity and support show these young people that they are valued and encouraged on their journey.

The Bien dans mes baskets program aims to promote academic perseverance and social integration through competitive sports for at-risk youth. Through events like this, we continue to build a community of support and inclusion, allowing these young people to believe in their potential—thanks to you.
