Since 2020, Danielle Arsenault has been one of the welcoming and compassionate faces greeting users and visitors at Verdun Hospital.
Every Tuesday and Thursday morning, from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., she’s there—reliably and warmly present.
In nearly four years, she has volunteered close to 1,700 hours—an incredible commitment that makes a real difference in the experience of users and residents.
Dependable, punctual, and always ready to help, Danielle is much more than a familiar face at the entrance—she’s a true pillar of the hospital.
Her role goes beyond guiding people to their appointments: she helps them feel at ease, reassures them, and transforms their hospital visit into something more human and comforting.
“No matter how old we are, coming to the hospital can be a little intimidating. Even scary. That’s why I chose to volunteer at Verdun Hospital’s reception.
On paper, my job is to accompany people and take them to their appointments. But my real role is to ease their worry from the very first moment—by welcoming them with a smile and kindness.”
Thanks to the support of Fondation Santé Urbaine, the hospital is able to offer services that go beyond medical care: a mobile library that visits patient floors, coffee service for those waiting in the ER and outpatient clinics, and even wheelchair support for people who need it.
Reception volunteers don’t just point the way—they guide, listen, and comfort. In just a few moments, they build trust, ease fears, and turn a stressful visit into a more human encounter.
With her kindness and dedication, Danielle embodies this mission beautifully. She generously shares her experience with new volunteers, passing along not just best practices, but also the importance of a heartfelt welcome.
We are incredibly lucky to have her with us. Thank you, Danielle, for everything you do!
We need you to help families like Antoine’s. From Verdun to the Plateau, whether in hospitals, CLSCs or CHSLDs, your donations make all the difference and bring these stories of hope to life.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.
