Discover Marie’s story, featured in La Presse: “Before joining the basketball program at École secondaire Jeanne-Mance in Montréal, Marie Kanse Fouda was consumed by timidity, rejection and discrimination.”
After arriving in Québec following a journey filled with challenges, Marie found in the Bien dans mes baskets program a true source of confidence and perseverance. Thanks to basketball and the caring support of the team, she was able to thrive, improve her academic results, and find her place—both on the court and in life.
Congratulations to Marie for her determination, and to the program’s teams who make these transformations possible.
For the past 25 years, the Bien dans mes baskets program has used sport to help young people develop, build self-confidence, and integrate into society. Supported by Fondation Santé Urbaine, the program promotes not only physical and mental health, but also academic perseverance and social integration for youth in the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal community.
