When asked to talk about himself, Emmanuel smiles and shakes his head. At 58, living with cancer, he doesn’t believe his story is extraordinary. What truly deserves to be told, he says, is the oncology transportation service offered by the Foundation — the service he has relied on since his very first treatments. “I’d rather talk about the drivers and the transport itself, because without this service, I don’t know what I would have done. I probably wouldn’t be here,” he admits.
Since his diagnosis, Emmanuel has been off work, with no income. Immunosuppressed and with reduced mobility, he had no safe way to get to his treatments on his own. He and his partner don’t own a car, and public transit was far too risky — his doctor strongly advised against it. As for taxis, they would have placed an unbearable strain on a budget already destabilized by cancer.
Thankfully, thanks to donors like you, Emmanuel can count on caring drivers to bring him safely to every treatment. Give today and help us continue offering this free service to Emmanuel and the hundreds of others who need a little extra support on the road to healing.
His partner, Émilie, shares:
“It contributes to his remission in its own way. It brings peace of mind — and that means more energy he can put into his healing.”
Every day, your generosity helps transform care in our community — from comforting children in pediatrics, to keeping older adults safe at home, to ensuring people with cancer can reach their treatments securely.
You are making a difference where it matters most: at the heart of life.
