Verdun is growing. And so is your hospital!

Passing by Verdun Hospital, you have likely noticed the cranes, construction vehicles, and security fences. The purpose of this large construction site? Your health.

Verdun Hospital—rooted in the neighbourhood for close to a century now—is currently undergoing expansion and modernization work to better meet the needs of our growing community.

The ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux is, of course, financing the expansion of the hospital. However, the hospital is counting on us to acquire better performing, more comfortable, and more durable equipment, which will make a concrete difference in the quality of care and patient experiences throughout the entire hospital.

Support your hospital

The foundation has committed to providing a minimum of $1 million to support Verdun Hospital’s expansion and modernization.

Once the work complete, the hospital’s surface area will increase by 60%. You are helping to fund equipment and furniture that will turn our community hospital into a state-of-the-art care centre in the heart of your neighbourhood.

By donating you are contributing to the health and well-being of the whole community.

Example of projects we support

These devices read a patient’s vital signs in real time. Concretely, this means care teams can now spend more time with you instead of having to manually update your file after each read-out. A significant improvement to the quality of care but also to safety as teams can focus on what truly matters: you!

Mobile computer workstations allow care teams to consult and update
your file in real time from anywhere in the hospital. Blood test
and X-ray results, prescriptions, vital signs—everything can now
be accessed easily and quickly. As such, staff does not need to go
back to the team workstations to check if results are in or confirm
dosages. With these mobile workstations, it is quick and easy to
access files close to the patient’s room without having to return
to the team stations. They also allow staff to transport medication
and various medical accessories so that they have everything they
need within reach. This means they can spend more time with you,
see more patients, and ensure the most efficient level of care.

  • Precision and safety
A specialized table provides optimal support, allowing professionals to perform surgical procedures with greater precision and in complete safety.
  • Comfort
Ergonomic tables can be adjusted to ensure your comfort during the procedure, reducing anxiety and improving the overall experience.
  • Ease of access for staff
A table designed for minor surgery facilitates access to the patient for the medical team, which optimizes the progress of the procedure.
  • Versatility
Many minor surgery tables are modular and can be used for a variety of procedures. This reduces the waiting list in the operating room and increases the use of this new outpatient clinic service.
  • Reduced risk of complications
Appropriate equipment can help minimize postoperative complications and improve clinical outcomes.
  • Operational efficiency
A suitable table can speed up the surgical process, reducing waiting time for patients and increasing the number of procedures that can be performed, freeing up operating theater rooms.
  • Enhancement of the clinic’s image
Investing in modern, quality equipment strengthens the clinic’s reputation and can attract new patients.
  • Regulatory Compliance
Having the right equipment can help meet safety and quality standards in healthcare.
  • Improved accessibility
These tables allow easy access to patients with mobility limitations, ensuring that all patients can receive the necessary care without obstacles.
  • Comfort
A suitable table can provide better support and comfort, reducing patient anxiety and stress during procedures.
  • Enhanced security
These tables can be designed to minimize the risk of falls or accidents, providing a safer environment for patients.
  • Staff efficiency
The right equipment facilitates the work of medical staff, making procedures faster and more efficient, which can optimize time and resources.
  • Satisfaction
Appropriate, quality care increases patient satisfaction, which can translate into a better reputation for the clinic and increased loyalty.
  • Regulatory Compliance
Investing in accessible equipment can help meet accessibility standards and healthcare regulations.
  • Valuing inclusiveness
By making care accessible to all, the clinic demonstrates its commitment to inclusiveness, which can strengthen the trust and image of the structure.

The addition of a gynecological procedure room in the outpatient clinics of the new pavilion will make it possible to resume certain operating room activities.

Currently, the following gynecological activities are transferred to the Notre-Dame Hospital facilities or are performed in the operating room:

  • Diagnostic interventions using specialized equipment;
  • Minor treatment/procedure interventions;

For example: evaluation of menopausal bleeding, recurrent fetal losses, primary fertility problems, suspected cancer cells, etc.

Addition of clinical conditions that often come up by gynecologists (infertility assessment, bleeding assessment (polyps, fibroids, endometriosis), infection assessment, pain assessment, difficult IUD insertion/removal)

These activities do not require the resources (infrastructure and personnel) of an operating theater and can be carried out in outpatient clinics. We would like to repatriate these activities to outpatient clinics to declutter and optimize operating room resources. We also want to avoid unnecessary travel for our patients to another hospital center, which generates additional costs and delays for patients.

Investing in specialized gynecology equipment for outpatient clinics has several advantages:

  • Improved quality of care
Adapted equipment allows for more precise examinations and treatments, which contributes to more reliable, rapid diagnoses and better clinical outcomes. This situation avoids scheduling an appointment in the operating room to perform the procedure following the diagnosis. Thus, the clinical team will be able to diagnose and intervene on site in a single appointment. Comfort Specialized equipment is designed to maximize patient comfort during exams, reducing anxiety and discomfort.
  • Operational efficiency
Specific tools can speed up the examination process, allowing medical staff to treat more patients in less time. This situation avoids scheduling an appointment in the operating room. Rather, it frees up the operating room waiting list.
  • Reduction of complications
Appropriate equipment can reduce the risk of complications during procedures, thereby increasing patient safety.
  • Patient Satisfaction
A well-equipped and welcoming environment promotes a better patient experience and accessibility, which can strengthen loyalty and referrals.
  • Professional image
Having modern and specialized equipment strengthens the reputation of the clinic, thus attracting new patients and retaining existing ones.
  • Compliance with standards
Having specialized equipment allows compliance with regulations and health standards in force, thus ensuring the quality of care.
  • Training and development
Investing in modern equipment also helps train staff on the latest techniques and technologies, improving their skills.
  • Quick and easy access
Decentralized practices allow healthcare staff to quickly access medications directly on care units, thereby reducing the time needed to administer them.
  • Improved security
These automated systems reduce the risk of medication errors with verification features that ensure the right medication is administered to the right patient.
  • Drug traceability
Practices record every transaction, providing accurate traceability of medications used, which is essential for audits and inventory management.
  • Reduction of travel
By being located on the care units, the offices reduce staff travel between the different pavilions, which optimizes working time.
  • Optimized inventory management
Automated systems can alert staff about stock levels, making it easier to manage supplies and reducing the risk of drug shortages.
  • Facilitate documentation
Medication administration information is automatically updated in the patient’s clinical record, improving documentation accuracy and consistency. Standardization of processes Using a uniform system across all wards helps standardize medication administration procedures, which improves the quality of care.
  • Improved patient satisfaction
Rapid access to medications and safer administration contribute to a better patient experience.
  • Flexibility for staff
The ability to work in different pavilions without having to adapt to varying systems facilitates staff collaboration and efficiency.
