Verdun Hospital
The Verdun Hospital was founded in 1932 as an effort to serve the growing healthcare needs of the community. Today, it’s an institution that is modernizing and seeking to improve its capacity to treat patients. The hospital serves the neighbourhoods of Côte Saint-Paul, Île des sœurs, Little Burgundy, Pointe Saint-Charles, Saint‑Henri, Verdun and Ville-Émard.
Verdun Hospital houses the third largest family medicine centre on the Island of Montreal and serves as a teaching ground for the Université de Montréal. The hospital provides ambulatory services for both outpatient surgeries and medical day care. It includes outpatient and specialized clinics, an intensive care unit, long‑term care services, palliative care services, and services in fields ranging from geriatrics and oncology to respiratory physiotherapy. The emergency department was renovated and redesigned a few years ago to meet growing demand and provide a comfortable, private environment to patients. The hospital is equipped with high-tech medical devices, such as an MRI machine and a CT scanner, and is steady on its way to becoming a modern, high-performance facility that is ready to put advanced technology in the service of medical needs.
