Two mental-health professionals at Hôpital Notre-Dame have chosen to take on the challenge of a lifetime: climbing two of the world’s highest peaks to raise vital funds in support of initiatives at their hospital.
In the spring of 2026, we are embarking on an incredibly ambitious adventure: climbing two mountains in Nepal in support of mental health.
Ama Dablam (6,812 m), one of the most iconic mountains in the Himalayas, will be our first challenge. Highly technical, it will give us the opportunity to acclimatize to the altitude and prepare for the second part of the journey.
Lhotse (8,516 m), the fourth highest peak in the world, will be the ultimate test. Less technical than Ama Dablam, this mountain will nonetheless put us to the test because of its altitude, just 300 metres lower than its neighbour, Everest.
We are taking on this exceptional challenge for the users of the psychiatry department, to show that even when the mountain is high, it is never insurmountable.
On mountains like the ones we will be climbing, every step is already a victory. And in an initiative like this, every donation makes a difference.
I have been a psychiatrist at the CIUSSS Centre-Sud since 2021.
I meet people in their homes, in shelters, and even out on the street.
I feel privileged to work with some of the most vulnerable individuals; their stories, filled with resilience, inspire me.

She’s the one who passed on her passion for hiking to me. Together, we’ve covered countless kilometres for our mental health.
In the coming months, we’re taking on an enormous challenge: climbing two of the highest peaks in the world.
We’re doing it to push our limits, and also for our users and our teams.
